KAMSA COMPETITION INFORMATION

Important Dates

• Applications Open: November 01, 2026

• Application & Fee Deadline: Due on January 24, 2027 by 11:59 pm PT (Late submissions will be accepted until January 27, 2027, with a late fee of $40.)

• No submissions will be accepted after January 27, 2027.

• Video Submission Deadline: January 24, 2027

• Winners Announcement: February 24, 2027

Awards & Winners’ Concert

• Awards Ceremony: All winners MUST be present at the awards ceremony on Saturday, March 13th 2027 to receive their prize and certificate.

• Senior and Junior winners: $300/$200/$100/Certificate

• Elementary and Primary winners: $150/$100/$50/Certificate

• Winners’ Concert: First Prize winners MUST be prepared to perform in person at the Winners’ Concert on Saturday, March 13th 2027 at 6pm (Part I) and 7pm (Part II)

• Location: Community School of Music and Arts (230 San Antonio Circle Mountain View, CA 94040)

• Attendance Required: Failure of a First Prize winner to appear at the Winners’ Concert may result in cancellation or forfeiture of the prize.

Video Submission requirements

Please carefully review the following requirements before submitting your performance videos.
Failure to comply with any of these requirements may result in disqualification.

Recording Requirements

• Recording Date: Videos must be recorded after July 1, 2026.

• Camera Position: The camera must be positioned at an appropriate distance, allowing the performance to be clearly and fully visible.

• String and Woodwind Instruments: The video must clearly show the participant’s face, entire upper body, both hands, and instrument.

• Piano: The video must clearly show both hands on the keyboard and the pedals.

• Attire: Participants must wear appropriate performance attire. Please do not wear sweatshirts, sweatpants, or other sports attire.

• Accompanist: If an accompanist is used, the accompanist must be clearly visible throughout the recording. Piano accompaniment only is permitted.

• Editing: Videos must be single, continuous, unedited recordings. No audio or video editing, cuts, or enhancements are permitted.

Video Submission

• Submit two performance videos, uploaded separately to YouTube as “Unlisted” videos.

• Provide the YouTube link for each video in the application form.

• Please verify that both links are accessible before submitting the application form.

Participants are responsible for ensuring that their submitted videos meet all requirements.

The Repertoire and Minimum Performance Time Requirements

 Repertoire

• Contestants must select two contrasting pieces from different musical periods. At least one of the two pieces must be from the Baroque or Classical period.

• Repertoire must be in the original form. For the repertoire from the Baroque period, transcriptions with instrument substitutions are permitted.

• Contestants must perform/record the repertoire in its entirety (with cadenza).

  • Theme and variations: Selected variations from its entirety are permitted on teacher’s discretion

• All Performances must be performed from memory. The use of sheet music is permitted only when performing a sonata with piano accompaniment.

• Repertoire must be performed with an accompanist if it’s required/written to be played with an accompaniment.

Performance Time Requirements

• The required minimum playing time must be strictly observed.

• A complete piece or a complete movement is considered one selection.

• The required minimum playing time applies to the combined duration of both selected pieces, not to each piece individually.

• Any submission that does not meet the required minimum combined playing time will be disqualified.
